Glitter slime is one of the most requested slimes, and one of the easiest: you make a clear slime and mix glitter into it. For the “galaxy” look, you make three small slimes in dark colors (purple, navy blue, pink) and twist them together.
Ingredients
- ½ cup (120 ml) clear PVA glue (or glitter glue, already full of glitter)
- ½ cup (120 ml) warm water
- ½ tsp (2.5 ml) baking soda
- 1 tbsp (15 ml) contact lens solution with boric acid and sodium borate
- 1 to 2 tbsp (15 to 30 ml) fine glitter, depending on the look you want
- For the galaxy: purple, blue, and pink food coloring, and a little silver glitter
Supplies: a mixing bowl (three small bowls for the galaxy), a spoon, a tray to keep the glitter from going everywhere.

Why these ingredients? What the activator does and which glue to choose.
Steps
- Gently stir the clear glue and warm water together.
- Add the glitter now, into the liquid: it spreads out much better than it does later.
- Mix in the baking soda.
- An adult pours in the contact lens solution a little at a time until the dough comes away from the bowl.
- Knead over the tray. For the galaxy: make three balls in different colors, lay them side by side, then stretch and twist 3 or 4 times, no more.
How do you know it worked?
The glitter should be spread all the way through, and the slime shouldn’t shed any when you play with it. If it sheds a lot, it was too activated when you added the glitter: next time, stir it into the liquid glue.
The most common slime fails
- The glitter stays on the surface
- It was added too late. Knead for a long time, or fold the slime over the glitter several times.
- The galaxy turned all purple
- The colors got mixed too much. Twist just a little, and stop while all three colors still show.
- You can barely see the glitter, it’s milky
- With clear glue, air bubbles make the slime cloudy at first. Let it rest for one to three days with the lid on: it clears up and the glitter stands out.

Variations and ideas
- Star- or heart-shaped confetti can replace the glitter.
- Add a small spoonful of glow-in-the-dark powder for a galaxy that glows in the dark.

How to store it
Airtight container. Glitter doesn’t change how long the slime lasts.
